It is a remarkable collection of 130 paintings and photos of women reading books, letters, and newspapers. The works included Manet, Rembrandt, Matisse, etc. The book describes how women in different epochs pursue reading as a form of liberation, contemplation, intimacy, and discovery. The authors explain the context behind each piece, and each painting communicates the particular feelings and state of mind of each reader as reacting to the tome. This beautiful collection is truly inspirational and most recommended to all IntlLawGrrls readers.
